Mariana Hahn

After studying drama at the ETI in Berlin, Mariana Hahn graduated in Visual Arts at Central Saint Martins, London, in 2012. In her practice, she questions archiving processes, the memory of her body and her own genealogy as well as their transfer to other mediums, whether they are paper, copper or other organic and mineral materials. Water and salt enable the artist to apply her own silhouette to large, thin copper plates, when she prints her sweaty body on them after running. Her body becomes the substrate and the vector of memory. The marked surfaces become her agents of conservation and transmission. The body, however, requires the intervention of intermediaries such as water, salt, air, light, etc.

Her works have been exhibited in many places, such as PS120, Diskurs in Berlin, in China, or at the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles (2021) and at Poush Manifesto (2022).
