Mariana Hahn

After studying drama at the ETI in Berlin, Mariana Hahn graduated in visual arts from Central Saint Martins, London, in 2012. In her practice, she questions archives and archiving processes, the memory of her body and her own genealogy, and their transfer to other media, whether paper, copper or other organic and mineral materials. Water and salt, in fact, enable the artist to affix her own silhouette to large, thin copper plates, when she imprints her sweat-covered body on them after a run, when she inscribes a few lines with her tongue, or when, close to mounds of salt, she murmurs poems. Her body becomes the substrate and vector of memory. Marked surfaces become her agents of conservation and transmission. The body, however, requires the intervention of intermediaries such as water, salt, air, light and so on.

His work has been exhibited in numerous venues, including PS120, Diskurs in Berlin and China, as well as at the Rencontres de la Photographie d'Arles (2021) and Poush Manifesto (2022).
