The narrative thread of her Another Dinner Party series is reminiscent of Judy Chicago’s “The Dinner Party”, a work created between 1974 and 1979, now in the Brooklyn Museum. Luisa Maisel offers her contemporary interpretation of the installation, dedicating a plate to each woman artist who has touched and inspired her, and whom she wishes to highlight.
Her work also echoes the banquet imagined by Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose plates were recently exhibited at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, during the exhibition “Basquiat x Warhol, à quatre mains” from April 5 to August 28, 2023.
