Yann Delacour

Yann Delacour lives and works in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

He teaches sculpture and photography at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. Yann Delacour began his formation by drawing at twelve, in the workshops of the Beaux-Arts. He started sculpting at the age of fifteen and worked in a foundry, which awarded him the silver medal of the city of Paris at just eighteen years old. He entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris immediately after his Baccalauréat. Once he graduated, he moved to a small studio, where the constraint of space really questioned his artistic practice and also led him to photography. This spatial limitation makes the street, the urban space, his open-air studio. However, his practice of sculpture has remained a determining element in his work.

The notions of gesture, game, body and its envelope, the process of creation, production and its context are fundamental elements in his work. His work exist and is constructed mainly in the form of series. The process is always important: Yann Delacour is always looking for a balance between the investment and the result. All his images are about a certain fragility but also about resistance.
