Yann DELACOUR

Born in Saint-Brieuc in 1974 and a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1998, Yann Delacour combines his practice of sculpture and photography. His own sculpted works have become his muses, allowing him to explore the theme of genesis on various levels.

After graduating, he set up a studio where spatial constraints encouraged him to explore new mediums such as photography, while remaining true to his sculpture practice. Now based in Issy-les-Moulineaux, he is extending his field of exploration to the urban space, which is becoming his open-air studio.

Private Choice presents two plaster and ceramic sculptures in 2024. One approaches the hybrid object, while the other tends towards the human figure. The enigmatic bust, in an attempt to draw air or an aborted breath, seems imprisoned in the material. It is unclear whether these swellings are the sign of a disturbing metaphor or a playful mutation, which unfolds beyond human limits.

For the edition dedicated to photography, Yann Delacour presents his series Zebra Crossing. His deconstructed prints demonstrate a technical experimentation close to artistic performance. Taken five meters above the ground, the shots are triggered using a radio remote control held in the artist's mouth. This approach creates « tightrope walker photographs », capturing the essence of the Parisian urban journey.
