Simon Nicaise is a French artist born in 1982 and graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Rouen. Some of his works are curated in the collections of the CNAP and the FRAC de Haute-Normandie. He has been awarded several prizes, the Prix Jeune Création (2009) and the Prix Sciences Po for contemporary art (2011) among others.
In the collection +1, he undertakes, according to a determined and predefined protocol, to affix an additional unit to a selection of works borrowed from a corpus of minimal and conceptual art. The apposition of a +1 questions and disturbs the spirit and the borders of the sculpture by the prolongation of the initial work.
