Claude Como

Born in Marseille in 1964, Claude Como creates her tufted wall tapestries in her studio. Throughout her career, the artist has never settled on a single medium, deploying her creative impetus through multiple series of oils on canvas, ceramics, and hybrid artworks, culminating in her passion for tufting in 2019.

Instinctively, multicolored woolen threads are projected onto the canvas like brushstrokes. In this way, the artist reveals her painting in her artworks, which spread out freely and organically on the walls.

Nature is her muse. Claude Como gives life to a lush and fantasized vegetation, made up of curls and shimmering threads. Through the many interplays of volumes and materials, her artworks seem to move and breathe in symbiosis. Their embryonic forms take on sensual, feminine curves, whose gigantism and fluorescent shades reinforce their presence.

For the 2023 edition of Private Choice, the Haussmannian interior is transformed by new tapestries created by Claude Como. In her series entitled Supernature, the boundaries are transgressed, giving an expression of a fertile and colorful imagination.
