Claude COMO
Born in Marseille in 1964, Claude Como brings her "tufted" wall tapestries to life in her studio. Throughout her career, the artist could not bring herself to use a single medium, deploying her creative impulse through multiple series of oils on canvas, ceramics and hybrid works of art, until she became passionate about tufting in 2019.
In a purely instinctive way, multicolored woolen threads are projected onto the canvas like brushstrokes. The artist reveals her painting in her works, which unfold on the walls in a free and organic way.
Nature is her muse. Claude Como gives life to a luxuriant and fantasized vegetation, made up of loops and colorful threads. Through the numerous plays of volumes and materials, her works seem to move, breathe in symbiosis. Their embryonic forms adopt sensual and feminine curves, whose gigantism and fluorescent hues reinforce the presence.
For the 2023 edition of Private Choice, the Haussmannian interior transforms in contact with Claude Como's new tapestries. In her series entitled Supernature, boundaries are transgressed, giving rise to the expression of a fertile and colorful imagination.
