Immediate boarding

Cherries on the boat is a contemporary art buying club made up of female collectors.

This Club was founded and initiated from 2009 to 2011 by Nadia Candet.
The acquisitions were the subject of an exhibition at the Hippocrène Foundation in Paris during the FIAC.

  • 29 works acquired in 19 contemporary art galleries
  • 24 artists of 11 different nationalities
  • 20 visits to private collections and artists' studios

You can discover the purchases made by browsing the Cherries on the boat catalog:

Preface by Dr. Josée Gensollen, psychiatrist and collection la Fabrique Gensollen:

« ...From this treasure hunt, the project's initiator was able to perform a feat of prestidigitation in the exhibition and in this catalog, succeeding in ordering and classifying the works thus acquired in a formal or thematic way. Nadia Candet has made it possible to link the different orientations of the purchases. This initiative is to be welcomed, as it reveals, through the acquisitions made and their presentation in this place, her true commitment to the artists... »

Les Cherries on the boat, collectors of contemporary art

The idea immediately caught on: in a few months, the "Cherries on the boat" were afloat. On board, twenty-one women, all involved in contemporary art.

The course: to share, around their common passion and the collector's approach. With curiosity, enthusiasm, a taste for encounters and a keen eye as their compass, the ship was launched during the Fiac, last October. This charming crew is embarking for three years, a limited duration guaranteeing the involvement and commitment of the participants. Based in Paris, the collective aims to form a collection, with quarterly purchases entrusted to a rotating board of three to five members who have carte blanche. At a rate of five to ten works per year, the collection gathered will be exhibited and documented in a catalog before the group is dissolved and the "booty" is shared. In the meantime, the "Cherries" are planning a program of visits to studios and private collections, followed by a lunch or dinner in the company of an artist, critic or art historian. Our collectors have a taste for adventure and travel. Next stops in sight: Turin, Madrid, Mexico, Marseille, Miami…
