Esther Imard

Born in January 2000, the artist spent her childhood immersed in the world of theater. In 2018, she entered the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, where she was successively trained by François Boisrond, Djamel Tatah and Bruno Perramant. It was by following their teachings that she embarked on a figurative approach.

Her painting is understood as a work on light, like the figure that appears on photographic film thanks to light exposure, or the actor who emerges on stage under the glare of the spotlight. A matte black background, almost nothingness, forms the basis from which she develops her representation. With this technique, light emanates from the subject itself, giving life and substance to the figure.

Like a snapshot, her oil paintings present themselves as simple presences, moments of life captured without narrative pretension. By removing these presences from any preconceived narrative, she preserves the viewer's freedom of interpretation.
