Bina Baitel
Bina Baitel is a DPLG architect and graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris La Villette, who founded her design and architecture studio in Paris in 2006.
Of French-Swedish origin, she grew up in the Middle East. Nourished by multiple influences, she explores the question of cultural interpenetration on formal, functional and symbolic levels, in a transdisciplinary approach between art, design and architecture.
Each piece in her collection straddles the border between art and design, and tells a story. Bina Baitel invites us to a contemplative and interactive experience: palpable immateriality, intelligent surface, tactile light, perception of the invisible, unexpected detour and moving object, the material interface of the pieces create unprecedented sensory moments. All this combined with the excellence of French and European craftsmanship.
TheSublime Ottoman (Bina Baitel 2022 collection), from the Latin sublimis "which goes upwards" or "which stands in the air" refers both to the impression of levitation of the cushion enhanced by the transparency of the glass, and to the idea of the sublime in the sense of that which transcends reality to become an object of wonder.
The fluted glass case produces a play of reflections by refracting light in space, and is generally never used for such types of object.
This exceptional piece seems to defy the laws of gravity, thanks to an extraordinary technical feat developed in the Glass Variations workshops.
The Helia collection collection features slender silhouettes. The undulating glass legs, like two ancient Doric half-columns, are topped with a frosted glass tablecloth. The hue and brilliance fluctuate according to the light.
