Bina BAITEL
Bina Baitel is a DPLG-certified architect, a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette, who founded her design and architecture studio in Paris in 2006.
Of Franco-Swedish origin, she grew up in the Middle East. Drawing on multiple influences, she explores the question of cultural interpenetration on a formal, functional, and symbolic level, using a transdisciplinary approach between art, design, and architecture.
Each piece in her collection exists on the boundary between art and design, and tells a story. Bina Baitel invites us to a contemplative and interactive experience: palpable immateriality, intelligent surfaces, tactile light, perception of the invisible, unexpected diversions, and moving objects. The material interface of the pieces creates unique sensory moments, all combined with the excellence of French and European craftsmanship.
The Ottoman Sublime (Bina Baitel collection 2022), from the Latin sublimis, meaning "rising" or "held in the air," refers both to the impression of levitation of the cushion, enhanced by the transparency of the glass, and to the idea of the sublime, in the sense of that which transcends the real to become an object of wonder.
The fluted glass case creates plays of reflections by refracting light into the space and is generally never used for such types of objects.
This exceptional piece seems to defy the laws of gravity thanks to an extraordinary technical feat developed in the Glass Variations workshops.
The collection Helia presents slender silhouettes. The undulating glass legs, like two antique Doric half-columns, are topped with a frosted glass top. The hue and brilliance fluctuate with the light.
