Corps à corps: Silvère Jarrosson from dance to painting
En Corps, released last March, plunges viewers into the story of the convalescence of Élise, a 26-year-old ballet dancer forced to abandon her career following an injury. Cédric Klapisch's delicate approach to this slow reconstruction evokes the skin-deep sensitivity already shown in his films L'Auberge Espagnole (2002) and Ce qui nous lie (2017), and follows her reconstruction with sensitivity and delicacy. The film is an ode to the body, an invitation to overcome one's bruises and reinvent oneself through the discovery of a new creative breath.
The film resonates with the career of visual artist Silvère Jarrosson, 29 years old and a member of our 2022 selection - which you'll find in the "Artists" section in a few weeks' time. Like Élise, Silvère had to stop his career as a dancer with the Paris Opera after an injury. Like Élise, Silvère chose to stay in the creative field to build on his convalescence. He reinvented himself through painting, taking up gestures derived from a deep knowledge of his own body. Like a choreography, his canvases are a happy blend of the precision of movement and the randomness of compositional genesis.
