Beech, mycelium

For the 2024 edition, Private Choice presents a piece by Corentin Mahieu in collaboration with Bento Architecture. This is the Accalmie table, composed of a base in the form of a wooden scaffolding, supporting a mycelium tray. The title of the piece refers to the stabilized state of the living mycelium: after an explosive growth, it has entered a state of calm. The species used for the creation of this object was collected in the Sonian forest in Belgium (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), where it grows naturally on local beech wood.
