Yann Delacour
Born in Saint-Brieuc in 1974, Yann Delacour graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1998. His own sculptural works have become his muses, enabling him to explore the theme of genesis on a variety of levels .
After graduating, he moved into a studio whose spatial constraints encouraged him to explore new mediums such as photography, but remained faithful to his practice of sculpture. Now based in Issy-les-Moulineaux, he now extends his field of exploration to the urban space urban space, which becomes his open-air studio..
In 2024,Private Choice presents two sculptures in plaster and ceramics. One approaches the hybrid objectwhile the other tends towards the human figure. The enigmatic bust, in an attempt to draw air or an aborted breath, seems trapped in the material. We don't know whether these blisters are the sign of a disquieting metaphora disquieting metaphor or a playful mutation that extends beyond human limits..
For this edition dedicated to photography, Yann Delacour presents his series Zebra Crossing. His unstructured prints bear witness to technical experimentation verging on artistic performance. Taken five meters above the ground, the shots are triggered by a radio remote control held in the artist's mouth. This approach creates tightrope-walking photographs "capturing the essence of the Parisian cityscape.
