Tawla
Zeïneb Ben Huba and Bastien Marion, architects who graduated from the École d'architecture de Marne-la-Vallée, set up the TAWLA agency in Rodez in 2015, where design, fabrication, installations and exhibitions mingle.
MATRICE is an armchair designed around the imprint created by the interaction of two materials, one ductile and one soft. It was designed for the Plumbum publishing house. MATRICE is a steel corset compressing a velvet fleece, giving it an organic geometry.
The interaction of these two antagonistic materials recalls the poetry of blown glass, the corsage on the waist, the imprint left on the body by wicker chairs. The iconic Chesterfield sofa has established itself as a benchmark, and this armchair is an interpretation of it: here, the upholstery is turned inside out like a glove, revealing the wire mesh structure.
In May 2020, the Mobilier National integrated the MATRICE mordoré armchair into its collections.
