Southway Studio
Emmanuelle Luciani
Founded by Emmanuelle Luciani & Charlotte Cosson in 2013, Southway Studio is active in exhibition curating and the organization of artist residencies, as well as in the design and creation of art objects and interior decoration.
Southway's aesthetic is positive, radiant, and imbued with references to the ancient and medieval past and to the art of the Mediterranean world, particularly on a formal level (motifs of the column or the scroll). Southway thus seeks to establish a dialogue between the territory of Marseille, its cultural heritage (local crafts, architecture, lifestyle), and contemporary art, offering the public a new form of contemporary art that is integrated with the domestic and everyday setting.
Emmanuelle Luciani, artistic director of Southway Studio, emphasizes the necessity of the decorative and the handmade after the second half of the 20th century with its exacerbated modernism and utilitarianism.
