Rikkert PAAUW

Born in 1982, Rikkert Paauw is a freelance designer based in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Her creations for interiors, decors, furniture, objects and outdoor furniture are designed using natural materials, and recycled or reclaimed materials. Her practice consists of improving the material and social environment in a very practical way, exploring the possibilities of discarded materials, working in a specific context and to order.

Since his work depends to a large extent on what he finds while combing his urban and rural surroundings, a suitable workshop in which to transform waste into design is essential. Over the years, working with salvaged and recycled materials has come to constitute Rikkert Paauw's very singular vocabulary, both a methodology for understanding local life and the most logical way of telling the story of a place through its objects and materials.

For the October 2025 edition of Private Choice , Rikkert Paauw presents the "Chair Sèvres", made of wood, metal, plastic, acrilat and recycled materials in co-production with JAD.
