PINTO X PILATI
At his home in southern Italy, Stefano Pilati has reworked sofas and armchairs into over-sized formats, over which straw mats and water hyacinth weavings are draped or simply thrown. This idea caught PINTO's attention and inspired the creation of a sculptural armchair based on the apparent simplicity of Stefano's "gestures".
Playing on the contrast between the initial gesture, made with simple, malleable and ephemeral materials (rattan, water hyacinth weaving, straw), and the unalterable material of bronze.
Playing with scale, Stefano Pilati and Fahad Hariri imagined an oversized carpet for this armchair, creating a powerful silhouette: a piece of furniture-sculpture. To achieve this, a team of craftsmen use lost-wax casting techniques, each with its own unique patina. This bronze armchair-sculpture is produced in a limited series of eight pieces.
Major PINTO projects include the salons of the Élysée Palace in Paris, the Odeon Tower in Monaco, the Lanesborough in London, Marella Agnelli's home in Marrakech and the Hôtel Lambert in Paris.
