Pascal MESTROM
Pascal Mestrom was born in 1972. He currently lives and works in Maastricht, where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1996. Since 1999, he has been working as an art dealer and antique dealer. In 2004, he began specializing in the acquisition of chandeliers, which he restores and studies in depth. In 2019, he began designing his own chandeliers, creations he calls Inventions.
Pascal Mestrom’s chandeliers are transformed into contemporary candlesticks, drawing their structure from the 17th century and the delicacy of their glass and metal framework from the world of artistic craftsmanship. His chandeliers resemble artificial still lifes, bridging the gap between the past and the present.
The combination of crystal, opaline, and Murano glass is just as intriguing as the blend of iron, bronze, and brass. A bold fusion of shapes and bolts creates a design that could almost be described as steampunk… Everything comes together to make “Inventions”—its asymmetrical and eclectic compositions—true suspended sculptures.
