Pascal Mestrom
Pascal Mestrom was born in 1972. He now lives and works in Maastricht, where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1996. From 1999, he worked as an art dealer and antique dealer. In 2004, he specialized in the acquisition of chandeliers, which he restored and studied in depth. In 2019, he embarked on the elaboration of his own chandeliers, creations he calls Inventions.
Pascal Mestrom's chandeliers are transformed into contemporary chandeliers, sometimes borrowing their structure from the 17ᵉ century, sometimes from the art of craftsmanship for the finesse of their glass and metal structure. His chandeliers are akin to artificial still lifeslinking past and present.
The marriage of crystal, opaline and Murano glass is as intriguing as the combination of iron, bronze and brass. A daring assembly of shapes and bolts, for a reference that could almost be described as steampunk... Everything is there to make Inventionsits asymmetrical, eclectic compositionsinto veritable suspended sculptures.
