Olivier Ratsi

Olivier Ratsi 's work posits objective reality, time, space and matter as notions of intangible information. His works prompt viewers to question their own interpretation of reality.

During the creative process, Olivier Ratsi uses the technique of anamorphosis to deconstruct spatio-temporal reference points. He cites the codes of conical perspective, a method of visual representation theorized by Leon Battista Alberti in his treatise De Pictura (1435).
The geometric images he creates cannot be seen at first glance: it is necessary to move around in space to find the vanishing point that would make the work appear...
In this way, anamorphosis tests the viewer's ability to deconstruct / reconstruct what they perceive, questioning what they think they see and what they actually see.
The viewer's subjective experience is fundamental to Olivier Ratsi's work, as it enables us to apprehend the work phenomenologically. The world around us is not as it first appears to us.

This study of the phenomena of perception led Olivier Ratsi to the project Perspicere. By attempting to freeze the vanishing point in a sculpture, Perspicere materializes this mental space and gives an account of this ocular phenomenon.
