Luca RESTA

Born in 1982 in Seriate, Italy, Luca Resta lives and works in Paris. A graduate of the Bergamo School of Fine Arts in 2008, his work revolves mainly around everyday objects, which he subjects to a meticulous process of accumulation, reproduction and transformation.

With his MONUMENTS series, he creates hyper-realistic sculptures of ordinary objects, cast in marble or stone. By sculpting these noble materials into banal forms, the artist provokes their symbolic disappearance, elevating them to the status of contemporary monuments.

Like an archaeology of the everyday, Luca Resta endlessly collects and reproduces ephemeral, ordinary forms: plastic packaging, disposable cutlery, cardboard boxes. His artistic vocabulary, imbued with mechanical repetition, industrial accumulation and homogenization, explores the socio-cultural logics hidden behind these innocuous objects.
