Louise JANET
To consider one of Louise Janet's canvases is to allow oneself to be invited into the intimacy of a room, whose disordered charm recalls our daily lives. A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2023, the young painter began her career in François Boiron's studio before joining James Rielly's for her last two years of study.
Fascinated by 17th-century Flemish painting, and more specifically by the way Vermeer paints his « open windows onto the world » - giving his interiors depth and his characters an irrepressible presence - Louise turned to figurative painting from the start.
Through her small formats, Louise Janet reveals parts of her story. Pensive figures evolve in her familiar interiors: far from wanting to portray her entourage, the artist nevertheless allows a glimpse of a part of their interiority. The decoration of a room, the casual way of leaving a duvet undone on a bed, the « organized mess » that litters the floor... Each object becomes the clue to a personality and opens the way to narration.
Oil painting allows Louise Janet to immortalize certain moments that she would like suspended in time. The artist integrates a whole imagination into her photographic memory, substituting her perception of reality for the gaps in past memories.
