Katia Jacquet
To create stigmatic objects in primitive materials, totems that carry the energy instilled in their making. Fascinated by the craftsman's gesture, she aspires to reconnect with the material and create sculptural pieces that can become useful, long-lasting objects. Her quest for purity leads Katia Jacquet to design functional ceramics in a vocabulary all her own.
Katia Jacquet works in wood and clay, using simple simple geometric shapes to create tactile objects in search of balance. Her sculptural ceramics are also functional, made in stoneware, shaped and turned by hand, then covered with glazes derived from her research. Firing at 1250°C gives them a rare resistance and permanence.
Private Choice 2024 will feature a set of sculptural fruit bowls and lamps, entitled Hilla and numbered. The latter are inspired by the photographic work of the couple Bernd and Hilla Becherparticularly their series of water towers, referenced encyclopedically and systematically. The glazed ceramics adopt the geometry of industrial buildings and the refined aesthetics of modernist architecture, which continues to nourish the artist's imagination.
