France Bizot

France Bizot is a multi-disciplinary artist, trained at the École supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and a renowned former art director. Capturing fleeting moments as well as her own reflection, the Polaroid, according to France Bizot, embodies the beginnings of the selfie.

In his series "Polaroils presented at Galerie Backslash in 2023, France Bizot's universe is dotted with references taken from social networks. Taking up the iconic format of the photo object, portraits of anonymous people, celebrities and other trivial scenes alternate at the same pace as the narcissistic publications scrolling across our screens.

For the April 2024 edition, Private Choice has chosen to exhibit a selection of portraits of women who seem to defy the lens. Among them, a pensive Andy Warhol. The realism of France Bizot's touch is tinged with a pop art aesthetic, playing with contrasts and saturated colors. A reference that becomes a mise en abyme, given that the Polaroid camera has been one of the master's indispensable tools since the 50s. Over a period of thirty years, Andy Warhol amassed an incalculable number of snapshots, an obsession that marked the golden age of instant photography.

France Bizot was born in France in 1959. She lives and works in Paris.
