Floriane de Lassée

Proud ofan eclectic and sincere practice that evolves over the course of her life, Floriane de Lassée's career is nevertheless marked by a photographic series entitled Inside Out, which will accompany her for ten years.

At the Private Choice photo edition in November 2024, a view of Paris from this iconic series will be on display. It features a silent figure in a nocturnal, urban landscapewith the Pantheon in the background. The model at the piano, exceptionally from behind, unknowingly cradles a secret admirer at her window. The use of the camera imposes an exposure time ranging from 10 to 40 minutes, freezing the image in a parallel space. The metallic hues that give the work depth and a certain preciousness are due to the use of iridescent, metallic paper, evoking the aesthetics of old cibachrome prints.

In contrast to this photographic process, his latest series When water rises emerges. Conceived during a world tour in 2023-2024, this series takes root on the beaches of island of Tanna in Vanuatu, Oceania.. Here, Floriane de Lassée transforms volcanic sand beaches into muses. In an almost meditative approachthe rhythm of the waves guides her lens. Armed with a simple iPhone, she seeks, through observation and patience, to reconnect with the power of the Ocean, that crossroads between terrestrial and marine life. Once reworked, the images evoke the mountainous and volcanic reliefs characteristic of the Pacific. The artist presents them in single prints or mounted in bas-relief, accentuating the impression of volume.

Finally, his series entitled Présences takes up the motif of the window, behind which solitudes appear: a hand-to-hand encounter with the wall wall, leaving the viewer to wonder about the meaning of this nameless, faceless choreography, at once sensual and intimate. The artist's only instruction to her models is to try to get through to the other side of this semi-opaque glass wall. She then captures the poses of these anonymous models at the very moment when the zones of contact become islands of sharpness. The set-up resembles the staging of an "installation". The LED-lit lightboxes are produced in editions of 5 to 8.
