Constance LAFONTA

Born in 1997 and trained at Central Saint Martins and the Beaux-Arts in Paris, Constance Lafonta has developed a multidisciplinary practice that combines painting, sculpture, and installation, at the intersection of introspection and scenography.

Initially driven by drawing, engraving, painting, and photography, her practice explores intimacy, withdrawal, states of mind, and gray areas. Self-portraits become fragmented, porous psychological mirrors in which the artist confronts her own metamorphoses. At a turning point in her life, fueled by a romantic breakup, Constance Lafonta transforms images into places. Space opens up, the frame disappears. Her works reflect inner transformations.

She offers a sensitive and intimate narrative of the transition from darkness to light. Each work articulates a stage in her initiatory process, a threshold towards peace. Her choice of materials, scales, and voids reflects a constant desire to make her works active, almost therapeutic presences.

For theChoice edition of Private Choice , the artist presents a collection of ceramic sculptures, including a bronze portrait, as well as two oil paintings on canvas that straddle the line between Fauvism and Expressionism.
