Claude Como

Born in Marseille in 1964, Claude Como 's "tufted" wall tapestries emerge from her studio. Throughout her career, the artist could not bring herself to use a single medium, deploying her creative impetus through multiple series of oil on canvas, ceramics and hybrid artworks, culminating in her passion for tufting in 2019.

Purely instinctively, the multicolored woollen threads are projected onto the canvas like brushstrokes. The artist reveals her painting in her works, which unfurl freely and organically on the walls.

Nature is his muse. Claude Como gives life to lush, fantastical vegetation, made up of curls and variegated threads. Through the numerous interplay of volumes and materials, her works seem to move and breathe in symbiosis. Their embryonic forms take on sensual, feminine curves, whose gigantism and fluorescent hues reinforce their presence.

For the 2023 edition of Private Choice, the Haussmann interior is transformed by Claude Como's never-before-seen tapestries. In hisseries entitled Supernaturethe boundaries are transgressed, giving rise to the expression of a fertile and colorful imagination.
