Clarence GUÉNA
Clarence Guéna is a multifaceted artist. As a painter, craftsman, and technician, he establishes a dialogue between matter, form, and color through engraving.
After studying at Villa Arson in Nice in 2011, he decided to build his own engraving machine for his studio. Thanks to this tool, which he guides with his own hand, he draws from a constellation of images that he constantly collects, to weave the threads of a new narrative.
No need for a preparatory drawing, but a vector program to guide the laser and discover the colors of the randomly superimposed resin layers. Letting go and the absence of anticipation give way to a tactile score, to three-dimensional and abstract lyricism. Clarence Guéna gives his process an almost archaeological gesture, where the removal of matter eventually reveals the motif.
Clarence Guéna is currently represented by the Françoise Livinec gallery.
