Christelle TÉA
She devotes herself mainly to drawing portraits from life, in which she focuses on the environment, symbolizing for her the expression of the models' personality. Her drawings are made directly on the spot, in Indian ink, without sketching or reworking. Christelle Téa seeks resemblance, but not realism, because for her, drawing means selecting the most significant elements from the complexity of the visible.
Christelle Téa also represents interior viewsdrawn as portraits without a model, as well as landscapes. In her works, she decants a materiality to reveal the essence the essence of her perception.
More recently, she has produced several series of drawings on food, including pastries, animals and natural history, as well as numerous drawings made during her travels.
For the Private Choice 2025edition, Christelle Téa unveils a view of one of the ground-floor rooms of the private mansion at 117 rue de la Tour. The scene pays particular attention to the carved woodwork, the stained-glass playlets and the earthy ornamentation of the fireplace. Through this abundance of detail the room comes to life on paper and reveals elements we wouldn't have spotted with the naked eye.
