BINŌME
Ingrid Michel and Frédéric Pain
Ingrid Michel and Frédéric Pain are two designers specializing in wood sculpture. They are both graduates of the Parisian Boulle school of applied arts. Having initially worked in the film industry, they set up the Binōme design studio in 2008. Inspired by the organic forms found in nature, they create and manufacture design objects that combine resin and wood in their studio nestled in the heart of the Burgundy countryside.
In the contemporary creative landscape, where the boundary between Art & Design is becoming increasingly porous, Binōme has been distilling a light-hearted four-handed style approach. As designers, sculptors and craftspeople, their creations are singular and always functional, poetic and deeply embodied.
Inspired by organic shapes, generous curves and taut lines, the Binōme duo love above all to build volumes, work with materials and experiment with new manufacturing processes to create exceptional, one-of-a-kind pieces made entirely by hand.
