Anja MILENKOVIC

A 2024 graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Anja Milenkovic paints suspended, fragile worlds —haunted by absence, yet still inhabited. Her practice, marked by great delicacy, brings to life subtle figures—animals, flowers, and body fragments—that serve as messengers from an inner universe.

Through her subtle paintings, she explores vulnerability, grief, and the power of emotions. Her canvases are sensitive sanctuaries, marked by a delicate balance between unflinching gentleness and critical tension.

Inspired by Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, and Apolonia Sokol, Anja Milenkovic creates paintings where pain, spirituality, and memory intersect, without succumbing to mysticism. She evokes hidden worlds where the tangible and the invisible engage in dialogue, driven by the conviction that painting is also about creating a welcoming space for others.
