Maxime PERROLLE x Marta BAKOWSKI

Maxime Perrolle (b. 1989, Hauts-de-Seine) is a cabinetmaker and art turner. Trained in cabinetmaking (2013) then turning (2016), he is developing his wood sculpture work at JAD (Sèvres) - statutory pieces, murals and decorative panels - where the manual gesture, texture and rhythm of the material take precedence. His vocabulary is rooted in a sensitive proximity to the tree: strata, undulations, cuts and patinas bring out the physicality of wood.

Designer Marta Bakowski cultivates a chromatic, graphic approach: bold colors, contrasts, patterns and surface play.
The collaboration unites their languages - color and relief - in an intuitive dialogue, with no preliminary drawings, fed by a myriad of samples and experiments with materials.

Conceived as a shared playground, the "Rythmes" stool duo explores thealliance of sculptural gesture (sensual surfaces, striations, hollows) and bold color (deep hues, patinas). Solid wood becomes the medium of a tactile rhythm, where the eye follows the light on the reliefs while color amplifies the vibration. Between furniture and sculpture, these pieces affirm a four-handed style: immediate, intuitive, rooted in the material.
