Manon STOELTIE

A Dutch designer born in 1991 and a graduate of the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Manon Stoeltie has developed a practice rooted in experimentation, artisanal craftsmanship, and the transformation of discarded materials. Using elements from our everyday environment—such as polystyrene and aluminum packaging or existing industrial forms—she creates functional objects through assembly and repurposing. Her work thus directly challenges our consumption and production habits, while seeking to preserve in each piece the memory and legibility of the materials from which it is made.

For its upcoming edition, “Private ”Choice features several stools from the “Amended” series. In these works , Manon Stoeltie repurposes discarded packaging materials to give them a new function—and, with it, a new value. Minimally altered, these elements deliberately retain their original appearance: their textures, indentations, and irregularities remain visible and become the formal language of the object. Amended invites us to reflect on what we consider useful, desirable, or worth keeping. By making waste the starting point rather than the byproduct of manufacturing, Manon Stoeltie shifts our perspective on the object and proposes an approach to design in which reuse and craftsmanship become tools for questioning the very notion of value.
