Luisa Maisel
Luisa Maisel 's ceramic creations tell us a story, that of the encounter between an artistic culture and a craft technique, colored by an eminently American identity.
Over 35 years ago, the artist decided to leave her native New York for Nice. She took with her the pop culture of the United States, which is reflected in her art through vibrant hues, playful shapes and an accumulation of everyday objects.
The narrative thread of his series Another Dinner Party is reminiscent of one of Judy Chicago's landmark works, produced between 1974 and 1979 and entitled "The Dinner Party", now in the Brooklyn Museum.
The artist offers her contemporary interpretation of the installation, dedicating a plate to each woman artist who has touched and inspired her, and whom she wishes to highlight. These revisited portraits are painted on large, hand-turned and hand-painted Audrey Blackman porcelain plates, accompanied by a spoon and tumbler.
For its 2023 edition, Private Choice is presenting 10 of the 39 models, whose names will be revealed in the dining room.
