Laura SATTIN

Born in Vincenza, Italy, Laura Sattin combines her career as an architect with her activity as an artist. Her contemporary glass works, designed and blown in her Swiss workshop near Basel, draw on traditional craftsmanship. Keen to perpetuate a know-how, the artist is working alongside master glassmakers in the perpetuation of blowing techniques that are as rare as they are complex.

In 2023, Private Choice presents two pieces from her new series, using a process called “double incalmo”, known for its difficulty: four or six hands are required to graft the three colored glasses, blown individually. The materials are thus fused together while hot, giving rise to a unique trichromy, subsequently covered by a thick transparent wall. The artist plays with the color wheel to create colored vases, alternating between combinations of complementary colors or tone-on-tone natural and autumnal shades.
