Atelier PELLETIER

Benjamin Pelletier

« Working and shaping the earth has always been a part of my life. I am a pure product of free expression. Modeling and enameling are natural and instinctive to me. »

Georges Pelletier was a French ceramicist and artist born in Brussels in 1938, who passed away on February 12, 2024. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des arts appliqués et des métiers d’art in Paris, before his passing, he passed on all his expertise to his son Benjamin, with the aim of seeing his art live on through him.

In 1961, he opened his first studio in Paris, where he created his first one-of-a-kind pieces. Spotted by Maison Bobois for his talent, he supplied them with pieces from 1961 to 1973. He then settled in Cannes, in a new studio that he would share with his son until the end of his life.

His productions are imbued with his rich apprenticeship in the workshops of Fernand Léger and Claude Pantzer, where he also met the architect and designer Charlotte Perriand, with whom he exchanged ceramics.

Her work is easily recognizable by her use of ceramics as a sculptural medium, as well as by her use of the sun-like form as a central motif. Her works allow a soft light to filter through, transforming them into dreamlike objects.

For Private Choice, a collection of mirrors, totems, floor lamps, and sculptural lamps will be on display. These ceramic pieces feature the same sun-inspired forms: the openwork light fixtures resemble candleholders and bathe the room in soft light, while the mirrors topped with glazed ceramic rods reflect this desire to bring the sun’s rays into the interior.
