DAS studio
DAS Studio is an architecture and design firm founded by Félix de Montesquiou. He graduated from the École Spéciale d’Architecture in 2011.
With a passion for architecture, set design, design, cabinetmaking, and lighting, DAS studio strives to integrate interdisciplinary expertise into each of its projects. Their primary goal is to experiment with new creative processes. DAS studio brings together architects and designers as well as carpenters, cabinetmakers, an electrical engineer, and a visual artist. Each architect/designer oversees projects from conception through fabrication, including the creation of working drawings, with the goal of achieving a suitable and innovative result.
Over the course of more than ten years in practice, DAS studio has developed a “minimalist” or “brutalist” identity. Working with noble yet raw materials—concrete, wood, metal—necessitates a focus on the essentials and a confrontation with spatial and material considerations. This refined aesthetic is particularly evident in the concrete coffee tables, whose lines make a statement with understated elegance and delicacy.
The lamp Spear was designed for a friend of Félix de Montesquiou, a Swiss Guard at the Vatican, to whom he had jokingly said that he would design a halberd-shaped lamp for his wedding. The result is a bold, martial interpretation of a medieval spear.
The lamp B, designed by Studio Mur, revisits the early brutalist aesthetic. An aluminum stem illuminated by LEDs rests on a gray-tinted concrete base, shaped like a cube or a cylinder.
