Charlotte Mano
After a double degree in modern literature and cultural communication, Charlotte Mano joined the Gobelins school from which she graduated in 2017. Although her work apparently unfolds around several themes (the body, space, darkness), it never ceases to question the image: its power, its transparency, but also its own limits. We find memories, characters, landscapes, sensations, all translated in a hushed, contemplative, somewhat nostalgic atmosphere.
In his series entitled Portraire, Charlotte Mano questions the image and its power of representation. Bluish images, vaporous bodies, the subjects seem frozen, as if the image were gently striking them with an irremediable sensation of artificiality and pictoriality. of artificiality and pictoriality.. This reflection on the image as veilis something she is constantly experimenting with in real space, but also in the studio: the image takes on the appearance of a painting in its form and as a final work.
In this series, Charlotte Mano at the crossroads of several influences: art, fashion, paintingWith her contemporary take on the fashion figure, she gently breaks down boundaries. She deposits an indecisive material on her models: Characters? Mannequins? Ghosts? These faces seem to seek calm, solitude, dreams and fantasies.
